What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is active, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based practice. I believe in working alongside my clients as a partner and guide, as someone who provides both support and structure as they learn to manage anxiety and OCD. I take a direct and practical approach, teaching skills that clients can use not just in session, but long after therapy ends. My goal is always to help people build confidence in their ability to handle symptoms independently over time. While I’m not afraid to challenge clients when growth requires it, I’m equally attuned to the moments that call for patience, understanding, and compassion.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I use evidence-based approaches that have been shown to help people effectively manage anxiety and OCD. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients understand and change unhelpful thought patterns, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build flexibility, self-compassion, and the ability to move toward what matters most to them even in the presence of anxiety. Together, these methods provide both practical tools and deeper understanding, helping clients create lasting change.
What does a first session with you look like?
In our first session, I like to give you space to openly share your experiences with anxiety or OCD, while also asking questions to better understand the details and context of your struggles. As we talk, I naturally weave in psychoeducation to help you begin understanding how anxiety and OCD work. I also explain what to expect moving forward , typically, in the second session we dive more deeply into formal psychoeducation models for anxiety treatment and start the process of developing your individualized hierarchy for exposure work. My goal in that first session is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel heard and begin to understand the path ahead.

Work HistoryMy work as a therapist has always centered on helping people find relief from anxiety, OCD, and the challenges that come with these conditions. I began my career providing counseling for adults in community and hospital settings, where I learned the importance of meeting clients exactly where they are and helping them build practical coping tools to support everyday life. Early on, I worked with adults facing a wide range of concerns, from depression and trauma to the stressors of daily living. Those early years taught me to listen deeply and to appreciate the courage it takes to seek help.
Over time, my work became more focused on anxiety and obsessive-compulsive related disorders. During my 8 years at Rogers Behavioral Health, I had the opportunity to specialize in treating OCD and anxiety using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). As I moved into leadership roles, I provided supervision and guidance to other therapists and worked closely with interdisciplinary teams to support both adult and adolescent clients. These experiences helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of how anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders interact and how to tailor care to each person’s unique situation.
Today, as the founder of St. Petersburg Anxiety and OCD Counseling, I focus exclusively on helping individuals and families affected by anxiety disorders, OCD, and postpartum OCD. My approach is practical, compassionate, and collaborative. I work to create a safe space where clients can learn to face their fears, understand their symptoms, and move toward the life they want to live. My years of experience in both clinical practice and supervision have shaped a style that blends expertise with genuine empathy and is always grounded in respect for each client’s personal journey.
