What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I got into this field due to my grandma passing away due to cancer. I was 13 at the time and I didn't see the family having support they needed through this time. My goal going into social work was to help cancer patients and their families. My path went a different way walking into my masters program. I started working closely with pregnant women or mothers in recovery and my passion focused there for a while. I worked with that particular population for 2.5 years and transition to more individualized MH therapy. I still have a passion to work with cancer patients, but I am open and love working with anyone over the age of 13.
