Education
Western Michigan University, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, 2019 — Pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling meant that I took classes pertaining to ethics, research, counseling techniques, and lifespan development. I completed one semester of in-school practicum and two semesters of an internship. During my internship, I worked with males convicted of sexual offenses, and I conducted group and individual therapy with them. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). After graduating, I worked in two different substance abuse treatment facilities, one with teens, and the other with adults. I became qualified as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). Since 2021, I have practiced therapy in an outpatient setting. I am an active member of the Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC).
Work HistoryImmediately following graduation in 2019, I worked in a residential treatment facility for adolescents dealing with co-occurring disorders. Following that, I was employed at an inpatient rehabilitation center for detox and residential addiction treatment; this was with adult clients. These two employment opportunities allowed me to hone my skills as an addiction counselor with both teenagers and adults. Since 2021, I have been working as an independent contractor in an outpatient counseling setting. This grants me the luxury of forming long-term therapeutic alliances with a variety of clients. I actively treat a multitude of issues, such as addiction, mental health concerns, and day-to-day life stressors.
