Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Being neurodivergent, I don't make much prolonged eye contact while I'm speaking so I might miss some nonverbal reactions to what I have to say. However, I do look at you when you are and often ask for feedback about how what I'm saying is landing with you. I use direct communication and try to explain things as clearly as possible. I'm a deep thinker and am good at making connections and finding patterns, relating present issues to past ones, helping develop more insight which often leads to change. I've been told I have quite a good memory, which helps with the pattern-finding. Therapy, trauma, and neurodiversity are special interests of mine, so I have a lot of tools and resources to share, and I stay updated with current interventions and therapy techniques to best support my clients.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I'm open-minded, hopeful, and fair. I believe that there are many different ways to live a fulfilling life, and I'm committed to supporting my clients in finding what's right for them. I'm also optimistic and am good at bringing out and building on my clients' strengths instead of focusing on their perceived deficits or weaknesses. Finally, I'm transparent in my policies and procedures and treat my clients the way I would like to be treated. For example, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. I waive the first late cancellation and offer additional late cancellations if I am the one who needs to cancel within the 24-hour window.
