What does a first session with you look like?
In our first session, I aim to create a welcoming and comfortable space where you can feel heard and understood. We’ll start by discussing what brought you to therapy, exploring what you’re hoping to work on, and identifying any specific goals you have. I want to understand your unique experiences, whether related to your personal life, cultural identity, or specific challenges you’re facing. I’ll also share a bit about my approach to therapy, which is flexible and tailored to meet your needs. It’s important that you feel comfortable, so you can expect a relaxed tone with the freedom to speak openly or ask questions about the process. We’ll take things at your pace, and you can decide how much or how little you’d like to share. By the end of our session, I hope you’ll leave feeling a bit more at ease and confident about how we can work together moving forward.

Education
University of Texas at Austin, Master of Social Work, Clinical Social Work, 2024
My Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) has provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, a deep understanding of systemic oppression, and a commitment to social justice. This training allows me to approach therapy with a holistic perspective, tailoring my methods to each client’s unique needs while addressing the broader social and cultural factors that impact their lives. My MSSW equips me to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore, heal, and grow.
University of Texas at Austin, Bachelor of Arts, Cultural Anthropology , 2021
My background in cultural anthropology deeply informs my work as a therapist. It has taught me to approach each person with curiosity and respect for their unique experiences, cultural contexts, and identities. By understanding how larger systems, histories, and traditions shape individual lives, I strive to create a therapeutic space that honors my clients’ stories and perspectives. This foundation helps me support clients in reconnecting with their roots, navigating complex identities, and cultivating meaningful growth and healing.
Work History
Over the years, my work has been shaped by experiences that have allowed me to support people through various stages of their lives. While working with under-resourced immigrant families in Austin, I primarily collaborated with moms, offering support around early childhood development and facilitating group spaces where they could connect, share experiences, and build on their strengths. This work deepened my understanding of the vital role that relationships and early experiences play in shaping who we are. In Oaxaca, Mexico, I worked with children and adolescents, which expanded my ability to connect across cultural and linguistic barriers and deepened my appreciation for the role of community and identity in healing. These experiences, combined with my current part-time work as a medical social worker, have strengthened my ability to navigate complex systems and provide compassionate care for people facing physical and emotional challenges.
