What are some the unique issues faced by clients in your particular field of specialization, in terms of mental health education, care, and/or treatment?

My name is Lydia Anthony, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I am the owner of Rejoice in the Rain Counseling. Do you feel powerless against the whirlpool of rapid changes? Do you feel drowned by the downpour of fear, worry, and anxiety? Is it hard to see beyond the dark clouds of depression? Perhaps you feel swept away by the waves of past hurt, regret, and guilt. Or caught up in a cyclone of self-doubt and insecurity. Let me be your companion as we navigate these storms that represent the struggles in life! Through my own experiences, I’ve learned that even in life’s darkest moments, there’s always a glimmer of hope waiting to be discovered. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult time or simply pursuing personal growth, you're not alone. I build each therapeutic relationship on the principles of safety, trust, respect, empathy, and support. I provide trauma-informed care that goes beyond listening; I also provide education, guide you in those deep conversations, and brainstorm solutions with you. One of my strengths is that I see systemic challenges faced by various groups. I take a community-oriented approach to connect you with essential resources so you can focus on your healing journey without worry. My style is unique in that I think creatively and outside-of-the-box. If you would like more information on my services, please visit my website: www.rejoiceintheraincounseling.com I look forward to working with you!

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Becoming a counselor wasn’t just a career choice for me; it was a heartfelt journey inspired by my own experiences with depression, anxiety, and grief. I’ve learned that even in life’s darkest moments, there’s always a glimmer of hope waiting to be discovered. It’s this philosophy that drives my practice: a belief that things will get better, but even now in the darkness, you can find meaning, inspiration, and beauty. Whether you’re looking for extra support during a difficult time or simply seeking personal growth, know that you’re not alone. A space of warmth, empathy, and healing awaits you!

What is your style/approach to therapy?

CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT PLAN: We co-create a personalized therapeutic plan taking into account your unique needs and goals. I provide care that is respectful of your background, values, beliefs, experiences, and identity. PSYCHO-EDUCATION: I help you understand your mental health and accompanying symptoms, then we work together to find the right coping tools for you to feel the relief you deserve. I help you develop skills to improve your quality of life, including but not limited to, effective communication, emotional regulation, helpful thinking, relaxation techniques, and healthy lifestyle habits. PROBLEM-SOLVING: I assist you in developing creative and effective solutions to help you navigate challenges better. FOSTERING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS: I help you develop meaningful connections with others - but equally important - a connection with yourself in order to feel confident and have a healthy sense of self-esteem. SELF-AWARENESS: I guide you in understanding how your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors interact with each other and affect your daily life. We will work toward the root cause of your issues to help you gain long-term healing. RESOURCE ADVOCACY: I help you access resources you need for your well-being, such as support groups, healthcare, and social services.
