Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
The first session typically involves sharing basic history, discussing what brings you to therapy, and understanding the logistics of the therapy process overall. I often share about myself, my role as a therapist, and how I show up in the space to help you feel comfortable and build trust between us. There is no expectation to dive right in or share the hardest parts of your story! The first session is meant to get a better picture of who you are and what you might be looking for. From there, we work together toward mutual goals to help you feel better!
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
Growing up, I was in and out of therapy and saw many different therapists. I was very turned off to the idea of therapy and wanted nothing to do with it after several bad experiences. As an adult, I decided I would try therapy on *my* terms as a last-ditch effort and found a therapist I thought might be a good fit. Luckily for me, it worked out, and I actually began to enjoy the therapeutic process. Now, as a therapist myself, I understand how hard it can be to start therapy and find someone you truly click with. My biggest goal is to make sure my clients feel safe, seen, and heard, and I hope to create a space where that's possible!
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I am trained in a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), somatic therapy, and expressive therapy. However, all of my work is rooted in a trauma-informed and person-centered approach that is unique to your needs and preferences. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so we will work together to find methods and tools that work for you!
