In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
My life philosophy and treatment philosophy are intertwined by the fundamental belief that individuals possess the capacity to find meaning and purpose in their lives, even in the face of existential challenges and uncertainties. I carry into my personal life the existential principles of embracing personal responsibility, living authentically, and engaging in a continuous exploration of life's deeper questions. This translates into a belief that I hold both as a therapist and in my everyday existence: that individuals have the power to make choices that align with their values and can shape their own destinies. I also recognize the importance of acknowledging vulnerability, both in myself and in others, and I strive to approach myself and my clients with compassion and empathy. Ultimately, my life philosophy and treatment philosophy converge in their shared commitment to fostering self-awareness, promoting personal growth, and helping individuals live more authentic, meaningful lives
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My style and approach to therapy as a person-centered therapist revolve around creating a nurturing and empathetic therapeutic environment where clients are empowered to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. I view clients as inherently capable of personal growth and self-discovery, and I work to facilitate their journey toward self-acceptance and positive change while respecting their autonomy and individuality.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
A key component of the therapeutic relationship is the establishment of trust and rapport between me and my clients. Trust forms the foundation upon which effective therapy is built. It is through trust that my clients feel comfortable sharing their deepest thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, knowing that they will be met with empathy, understanding, and confidentiality. When my clients sense that I am not only professionally competent but that I also genuinely care about their well-being, it fosters a sense of safety and openness. This safe and trusting therapeutic space allows my clients to explore their concerns, work through challenges, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing with confidence.
