What is your style/approach to therapy?
I'm here to help break habits and learn why they began in the first place. I'm here to teach you and empower you to overcome limiting beliefs about yourself and the world! Healing and rewiring the brain is hard work, but 100% possible. I promise to be by your side and cheer you on as you learn ways to heal enough to actually leave therapy! I'm a tool and evidence-driven therapist and I only use therapy techniques that have strong results behind them. My goal is to help you unlearn the conditioning that brought you here. In addition to the normal therapy format, I offer 10-day PTSD intensives as well as Brainspotting. Check out my website for more information and feel free to reach out for a free consult to see if we're a fit!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Are you exhausted of things building up and causing you to feel overwhelmed? Are you tired of trying to get out of old habits, just to continue to feel stuck, or maybe you don't even know where to start? Do you spend all day avoiding and numbing your feeling, just so you can function, then find yourself blowing up or having panic attacks later? Is all the mental junk getting in the way of your career, parenting, and/or having healthy relationships? Do you want ACTUAL tools instead of someone to just talk to and say "uh, huh, how does that make you feel?" Do you want long-lasting healing where you actually leave your therapist? I will challenge you to think differently so you no longer feel stuck in the same patterns you are in now. You will experience humor throughout our sessions, alongside humor, and emphasis on your own strengths.

Work History
I've worked in the social services field for 15-years and I've spent the last 7-years of my career specializing in trauma and substance use disorders, including medication assisted treatment. I've worked in mental health facilities, community-based programs, and primary care offices. I have worked with a huge variety of challenges and demographics. I have been drawn specifically to Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which is a 12-session treatment that emerged in the 80's to treat Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in veterans. It has since been adjusted to work with most trauma and remains the single most effective treatment for PTSD. I have received extra training and supervision to be a CPT provider and I keep up to date on changes and improvements in the practice. Keep in mind that PTSD can occur with sexual assault/abuse, threat of violence and/or death and just because it hasn't been diagnosed, doesn't mean it's not there to resolve. I also specialize in Brainspotting which is a "bottom up" approach to healing and helps release emotions, trauma, and activation in the body below the level of consciousness.
