What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach recognizes that you are already a whole person. There are likely layers of social, cultural, or familial conditioning, as well as survival strategies, that have kept you safe, but are now getting in the way of your authentic self and the life you want. There may also be layers of neurodivergence to explore.
By addressing all of the layers, we make way for the whole and authentic you to emerge. This holistic perspective allows us to tailor our techniques to your unique needs, ensuring that every part of your authentic self is nurtured and strengthened throughout your journey. As a Grand Rapids therapist, I’m dedicated to supporting the healing, growth, and relief of individuals within our community who are struggling. I believe that every person who chooses growth, creates a healing ripple affect within their lives, and ultimately contributes to the ongoing healing
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
When you work with me, you can expect to leave our sessions feeling more connected to yourself and your body. We'll work together to help your nervous system process trauma that's been stuck inside you—often without needing to talk about every detail of what happened.
Brainspotting helps your brain and body do the healing work naturally. Many clients notice they feel calmer, sleep better, and react differently to things that used to trigger them. You might find that old patterns—like shutting down when you're upset or pushing people away—start to shift without you even trying to change them.
I'll help you understand what's happening in your body and brain in simple terms. You'll learn to notice when your nervous system is activated and what it needs to feel safe again. This isn't just about feeling better during our sessions—it's about giving you tools and awareness that stick with you in your daily life.
Most importantly, you'll have a space where you can be honest, messy, and uncertain. You don't need to have everything figured out or show up perfectly. My job is to help you find your own answers at your own pace, trusting that your brain and body already know how to heal—they just need the right support to do it.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
Personality-wise I am someone who will challenge you in a compassionate way. I will encourage you to lean into the hard stuff, as well as honor the space and time you need to process. Experience-wise, I am neurodivergent and bring in an extra layer of attentiveness and accommodation to sensory and processing differences, honoring everyone's individual needs.
Perspective-wise, I recognize that we all have masks that we wear, and these become much stronger and more exhausting the more marginalized communities you belong to (ie. LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Neurodivergent etc.). Masks can be forms of safety, and also ways we connection with out true selves.
