Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I grew up with an affinity to reach people through compassion, empathy and understanding. This led to those close to me reaching out for moral support and advice. I didn't realize it at the time, but that was the beginning of my purpose being fulfilled. I now hone my skills and proudly accept the parts of me that make me a good counselor to others.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences give me insight into situations and circumstances that I may not have otherwise been privy to. For instance, because I have experienced depression and anxiety, I understand how it affects a person's life on an individual and collective level, as well as the importance of how these issues are approached in counseling.
Experiences yield insight, mastery and validation, which is able to be passed to others with the right environment and appropriate support.
