What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by a combination of personal experiences and a deep-seated desire to help others. From a young age, I was drawn to understanding human behavior and the intricacies of mental health. This interest led me to pursue a degree in psychology, where I first encountered the profound impact that mental health professionals can have on individuals' lives. I continued my education with a Master of Science in Professional Counseling, where I specialized in trauma therapy. Throughout my graduate studies, I was inspired by the therapeutic models and techniques that help individuals heal from deep-seated trauma. My academic journey was complemented by hands-on clinical experiences during internships, which further solidified my commitment to this field. The decision to specialize in trauma therapy was influenced by both my academic training and personal experiences. I’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of trauma on individuals and communities and was determined to gain the skills needed to make a meaningful difference. The opportunity to work with individuals to help them navigate their trauma, rebuild their lives, and find resilience has been incredibly fulfilling. In essence, my journey into therapy has been driven by a blend of personal empathy, academic curiosity, and a profound commitment to supporting others through their most challenging times. This profession allows me to combine these elements in a way that is both professionally rewarding and deeply meaningful.
