Get To Know Me
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
For starters, I am an around the way girl! As a native of Philadelphia I bring flavor to our sessions. Wonder what I mean by flavor? Experience of navigating the world, pushing my way through doors someone didn't want to open, I feel music in my veins and I'm a goal getter! In sessions I never forget where I am from so it keeps me humble. I have to practice self-care regularly and set healthy boundaries so I can be fresh for sessions. I also know every now and again someone may need a wake up call where I have to tell them like it is! Oh, and I love to learn so I ask relevant questions.

Education
Wilmington University, Social Science in Prevention Science, 2022 — The Doctorate of Social Science in Prevention Science is degree with to train students to shift their traditional thinking. Over the course of 2.5 years we completed coursework to approach public health from a preventive perspective on the primary, secondary and tiertiary. All in all looking at how to conduct research using methods and theoretical framework that would best explain the behavior patterns. To close my studies I conducted a qualitative study on the adult population I presented as my dissertation. The study is titled, An Exploratory Study of the Effects of Secondary Traumatic Stress through YouTube Viewing and Recommendations to Mitigate the Effects.
Temple University, Master of Social Work, Children, Family & Youth, 2017 — These studies allowed me to learn about the three levels of social work and how I can advocate for improving conditions that affect the community and individuals. I prioritized my learning on clinical social work with an interest to become a well-rounded clinican.
Chestnut Hill College, Bachelor of Science, Human Services and Psychology, 2011 — In my studies at CHC it was a beautiful experience where I determined I no longer wanted to diagnose instead be on the grounds engaged with the communities I served. Coursework was exhaustive but set the course for believing I could complete a task of high demand while balancing life.
Work HistoryMy career started early as a home health care aide and advocate for persons with learning challenges until I completed my bachelor’s degree. Quickly, I gained employment in a community mental health and substance use center as a counselor. This work included facilitating groups for substance abuse, treatment planning and looking for measurable success. Shortly after earning my Masters I remained at the same organization however, working as Therapist for persons receiving medicated assisted treatment. I felt compelled to find creative ways to help with community matters. Throughout my work history I have worked predominantly with the adult population with the past 6 years providing therapy to children, teens and families exposed to trauma.
