Professional Background
LicensureMinnesota, Licensed Professional Counselor, 0671
Education
University of South Carolina, Doctorate of Philosophy, Counselor Education, 1999 — While in my doctoral program I studied using CBT and Motivational Interviewing with clients with a variety of mental health issues. I also learned how to teach counselor education courses, which I did for 25 years. Retired from teaching now, I still see clients in my private practice and enjoy it very much.
Work HistoryI worked as a masters level licensed therapist with adults from 1989-1999. I focused my treatment approaches using Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and positive psychology (approaches I still use today). I taught counselor education from 1999-2024 and retired. I started seeing Telehealth clients through COVID in 2000 and continue my work today. I especially enjoy working with folks to find the positive in most situations, develop strengths to deal with daily stressors or family conflict, and help seniors with aging transitions related to loss, grief and health concerns.
