Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
In our first session, my priority is to create a sense of safety and comfort so that you feel at ease as we begin working together. We’ll take time to explore your story, your reasons for seeking therapy, and what you hope to gain from this process. I’ll also introduce you to how therapy works so you know what to expect along the way. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling supported, understood, and hopeful about the journey ahead.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I was drawn to this field through my own life experiences and the challenges I’ve overcome. After being critically injured in a car accident, I found myself on the other side of the therapy room. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of how painful negative self-talk and distorted thinking can be, and how transformative it feels to have someone walk alongside you in those moments. As a Black woman living with a disability, I recognize how identity, culture, and lived experiences intersect to shape the way we see ourselves and the world. I bring this awareness into my work, ensuring that therapy is not only a place for healing but also one that honors your whole self. Walking beside people as they rediscover their strength, embrace their stories, and take meaningful steps toward growth is truly the greatest gift of this work.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I prioritize authenticity and strive to create a safe, welcoming space built on open, nonjudgmental communication. In our sessions, I take the time to truly listen to your story and experiences, honoring both the pain and the joy you bring into the room. Therapy with me is a place where you can express your full range of emotions, whether that’s laughing together in one moment or shedding tears in the next. My goal is to meet you where you are with compassion, curiosity, and respect, so you feel supported and understood throughout your journey.

Work HistoryHey! I’m Melodie Malone, a dedicated, licensed therapist with a passion for helping people find their way through life’s twists and turns. My journey into therapy wasn’t a straight line, AT ALL, but it’s exactly what makes my approach real, grounded, and empathetic. As a former and volleyball coach, I’ve always had a strong passion for helping others see and become the best version of themselves. However, this joyous period was cut short after being paralyzed in a horrific car accident. From there, I dedicated over two years to rehabilitating mentally and physically before re-entering the workforce. Craving more meaning, I transitioned into mental health work, while working as a rape crisis community educator, earning my masters and diving into roles where I supported individuals across a range of issues like anxiety, depression, transitions, self-esteem, life stress, grief, etc. Over the years, I’ve worked in private practice and school-based settings where I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone just feels heard, seen, understood, and how that alone can begin to shift everything! If you’re looking for someone who’ll walk ( or roll) alongside you with kindness, curiosity, and a little cheer when needed, I’d love to connect!
