How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?

During your first appointment we will have an hour long conversation, so that I can learn about you, your life and the emotional or mental health challenges that have brought you into therapy. As I learn more about you, which may take one or more sessions, we will collaborate and identify your individual goals for therapy, and your overall life. Therapy is built upon trust, openness, commitment and willingness.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I approach each therapy session, respectful of each person's individuality and fully believing in the possibility for each human to gain greater understanding of self, grow, change and achieve their goals. If you spoke with patients who have worked with me in the past, they would describe me as approachable, caring, a good listener and capable of gently pushing in the direction of your best self.

Work History

I am a psychologist with extensive experience in research, psychotherapy and Neuropsych testing and assessments. Throughout my career working in university hospitals, the VA and private practice as a psychologist, I have specialized in helping individuals with chronic or disabling illnesses, chronic pain and trauma. When facing the challenges, discomforts, uncertainty and disappointments that comes with life changing illnesses, you are looking for a therapy space to have your range of emotions validated, but also seeking a road map to help you cope and thrive; heal and accept; return to yourself and build a new life.
