Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist started early in life. I grew up in foster care, which gave me firsthand experience with the challenges and complexities that life can bring. Initially, I chose to go into primary care, wanting to help people with their physical health. Over time, I realized that many health issues actually stem from mental health, and that life’s difficulties can affect all aspects of our well-being.
Learning that more than 80% of people will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime made it clear to me that focusing on mental health was where I could make the biggest difference. That realization led me to shift my focus to therapy and mental health care, combining my clinical training with my personal understanding of life’s struggles to provide care that is both skilled and deeply empathetic.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My personality has a big influence on how I approach therapy. I’m empathetic, so I really listen and understand what you’re going through, but I’m also solution-focused, helping you find practical ways to move forward. Working with me is a bit like talking to a friend who tells you the truth, keeps you accountable, and cheers you on at the same time. I aim to create a supportive space where you feel heard and understood, while also being guided toward real, meaningful change in your life.
What excites you most about the evolving mental health landscape?
What excites me most about mental health is how much we’re learning and growing every day. The stigma around seeking help has decreased, which means more people can get the care they truly need. I’m inspired by the advances in treatments and medications, and by seeing how much lifestyle and daily habits can positively impact mental well-being. Being part of a field that is constantly evolving and helping people live healthier, fuller lives is incredibly rewarding.

Education
Purdue University, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Doctoral as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, 2018 — I bring a high level of knowledge and expertise to care for my patients. What this really means for you is that I’m able to look at your health holistically, considering both your mental and physical well-being, and use the latest practices, as well as the tried and true practices, to help you feel better.
Beyond my clinical training, I also bring life experience that shapes how I care for patients. I’ve personally navigated challenges like fertility issues, domestic violence, and PTSD, among others. This gives me a deep understanding and empathy for what patients may be going through, helping me provide care that is not only skilled but also compassionate and tailored to each person’s needs.
In short, my goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered, while providing safe, effective care for both mental and physical health—because your life experiences matter just as much as your medical history.
Work HistoryOver the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of healthcare settings, which has helped me develop a broad and deep understanding of both mental and physical health. Early in my career, I worked extensively in psychology and psychiatric care, including inpatient psychiatric settings, which gave me experience supporting individuals through serious mental health challenges and crises. I also spent time working with people involved in the justice system, helping those navigating incarceration and reentry, which taught me the importance of compassion, patience, and understanding unique life circumstances.
I’ve cared for families of all kinds, from young children to older adults, and have experience in geriatrics, helping seniors manage multiple health issues while preserving their independence and quality of life. Working in the emergency department for many years honed my skills in quickly assessing and responding to urgent physical and mental health needs, teaching me to stay calm under pressure while providing thorough, attentive care.
Now, I’ve combined my clinical experience and passion for helping others into running my own healthcare companies, where I focus on providing individualized, compassionate care. Through all of this, I’ve developed specialties in mental health, family care, crisis management, and holistic wellness, always keeping the person in front of me—not just their diagnosis—at the center of care.
