What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I’ve always been a curious person but even at a young age, I was drawn to people’s stories- their relationships, what makes them happy/sad, their struggles and moments of triumph. From there, going through the experience of medical school and mental health training helped me put the dots together that I not only enjoyed stories but also the ability to help individuals make meaningful change in their lives through the vehicle of psychotherapy.

Work HistoryI am a board certified adult psychiatrist licensed in New York. I received my BA in biology from Siena College with an emphasis in humanities, ethics, and social service. I attended Albany Medical College for medical school and completed an adult psychiatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. I also carried out a psychoanalytic psychotherapy fellowship as part of the New York Psychoanalytic Training Institute. After this, I worked as an attending psychiatrist at St. Vincent's Hospital. Working in these different settings, have helped me develop and grow in my areas of expertise which include anxiety and depressive spectrum disorders, mood disorders, trauma, grief and loss, role transitions, identity struggles and relationship obstacles. My main therapy modality is psychodynamic psychotherapy though I also utilize CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, and IFS modalities as well. In addition, I value medication management as a powerful tool in treatment that can help in symptom reduction, optimize well being, and live a more balanced life.
