In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
People say that I have a quiet and calming personality. I think this translates well into my work. I strive to provide a safe and empathetic environment where you can be yourself. I have found that individuals often feel better by speaking things out loud and can be a great listener. I tend to be on the gentler side with pushing and challenging individuals in therapy, but I recognize that sometimes this is needed to promote growth.
What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?
Success is ultimately measured by the individual's self-assessment. I believe you know yourself better than anyone else. I will happily point out wins and successes during sessions, but it's important to me that YOU feel and believe that you are making progress that is sustainable. I find it is easiest to decrease frequency and slowly phase out sessions, at your comfort, when working toward successful completion. After completing therapy, my goal is for an individual to feel like they have the needed tools to cope, and problem solve as stressors arise.

Once obtaining my masters, I spent 5 years providing home-based behavioral therapy. Currently, I provide counseling to older adults living in nursing facilities.
