Work HistoryI began my career in the mental health field in 2008 working in a hospital alternative residential program for adults with severe and persistent mental health disorders. This experience opened my eyes to the prevalence of mental health concerns and the impact one's mental health has on every facet of their lives. My second job also involved serving individuals who were unhoused, this time adult males who had served time for crimes against another person. During this position, I started my education and experience with addiction counseling and realized how much mental health concerns often coincide with substance abuse. My passion for helping others continued to grow and led me to my master's program. As soon as I graduated, I became a mental health therapist at the same company and started working with adults of all ages and genders.. As a clinician, I continued to work mostly with individuals with severe and persistent mental health concerns, however, my role allowed me to learn more about the impact of trauma. It became clear that trauma and other adverse childhood experiences are at the root of most adult mental health challenges. This realization led me to gain extensive training in EMDR and IFS, which allow me to focus on the root of one's concerns and help individuals heal from within.
