What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I was inspired to become a therapist after experiencing my own hardship with depression, anxiety, and having difficulty finding direction. Seeking therapy for myself was a life changing experience and I believed I could use this experience to help others. Having experienced these difficulties personally, I have a deep understanding of how depression and anxiety can impact a person and what approaches can be helpful to create meaningful change.
In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
The biggest overlap between my life philosophy and treatment philosophy is the importance of acknowledging our own autonomy and focusing on what is within our control. We've all fallen into the trap of worrying about and focusing on things outside of our control (myself included) and when we do this we spin our wheels and our anxiety builds and it feels like there is no way to manage it. When we are able to bring our focus back to what is within our control - what we can do and how we think - we are able to address our problems and anxieties in a meaningful way.
What does a first session with you look like?
I use a semi-structured in the first session to help me start to build an understanding of the client and their experiences. This also involves the client having opportunities to ask any questions about me or my approach to therapy.

Work HistoryI began my career as a therapist by interning at a private practice, where I gained valuable experience working with adolescents, teens, and young adults. This experience helped me develop a strong foundation in therapeutic skills and techniques, and sparked my passion for helping individuals navigate the unique challenges of these developmental stages.
After completing my internship, I moved to a community organization where I had the opportunity to work in both a clinic and in school settings. In the clinic, I worked with adult clients, honing my skills in assessment and treatment planning. In the schools, I worked with students of all ages, gaining experience in addressing the mental health needs of young people in an educational setting.
Building on this experience, I then moved to a clinic focused on working with adults, including employees and their dependents of a major local employer. This role allowed me to develop expertise in helping individuals manage work-related stress and other challenges that can arise in the context of one's career.
With this diverse range of experiences, I ultimately decided to open my own practice, where I now work with clients aged 12 and up. Drawing on my education, training, and experience, I provide comprehensive and compassionate mental health services to individuals navigating a wide range of challenges and life stages.
