What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

As someone who struggled with being bullied growing up as well as in my adulthood, I have battled obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and post traumatic stress disorder. In addition, I have been impacted by 9/11. I believe every life is beautiful and worth being cherished. This led me to become a counselor.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

While I can come off as "business oriented" as many of my colleagues and clients have implied, I do like to have fun at times. It was hard getting to show my goofy side as I balanced having a professional identity, but I am learning to let loose and have more fun. Please be patient with me as I unleash my inner child. :)

What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?

Money and time. If finances are an issue, I can work with you through it. If time is an issue, I understand that fully too. Thankfully with the pandemic, virtual counseling has become a more accessible form of treatment.

Throughout my graduate work, I worked in various levels of care, including inpatient, outpatient, psychiatric rehabilitation, residential homes, and juvenile detention. Most of my research throughout graduate school was conducted on the Sanctuary Model and individuals within state facilities with severe mental illness.
