What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
As someone who struggled with being bullied growing up as well as in my adulthood, I have battled obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and post traumatic stress disorder. In addition, I have been impacted by 9/11. I believe every life is beautiful and worth being cherished. This led me to become a counselor.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
While I can come off as "business oriented" as many of my colleagues and clients have implied, I do like to have fun at times. It was hard getting to show my goofy side as I balanced having a professional identity, but I am learning to let loose and have more fun. Please be patient with me as I unleash my inner child. :)
What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?
Money and time. If finances are an issue, I can work with you through it. If time is an issue, I understand that fully too. Thankfully with the pandemic, virtual counseling has become a more accessible form of treatment.
