Get To Know Me
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My approach is informed by my values, these include: anti-racism, anti-oppressive practices, cultural humility and responsiveness, trauma-informed practice, and queer-affirming principles. A warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental approach will be consistent when you meet with me. I balance this with my ability to be candid as requested by clients. With permission, I will be direct and offer perspective to help you move forward or challenge patterns that might be holding you back.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Integrative approach, meaning a combination of different approaches and tools are used to tailor treatment to your unique needs.
Modalities include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Phase-oriented Trauma Treatment, and Humanistic/Person-Centered Therapy. Flexible pacing for sessions with optional, expressive tools we can bring into sessions, like humor, play, and art-making. “Living well is an art that can be developed. ” ― Maya Angelou
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Sometimes finding the right therapist or the right type of treatment can be challenging and clients find that a free, 15-minute consultation call with me is helpful prior to scheduling an intake appointment. I deeply value the relationship between client and therapist and believe that the right fit is important. If you are feeling uncertain about starting therapy, I would be happy to support you in finding the right therapist for you, even if it's not me!
