What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Welcome! I am glad you're here.
I always knew that I wanted to help people in some way, shape or form. Experiencing multiple family members struggling with mental illness along with my own lived experience made me realize how powerful the mind was, and how easily it can be changed, for better or for worse. I wanted to be a force for good and develop a "superpower" that creates healing and allows people to pursue their goals.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I'm a Type-A personality so you can expect our sessions to feel structured and organized - not like you're lost in space wondering if we're actually accomplishing anything. You can expect to learn evidence-based concepts and take away tools with corresponding handouts.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I consider my approach to be "balanced." We will balance the seriousness of your situation with a little bit of humor to keep things light. I balance celebrating exactly who you are with the acknowledgement that change needs to happen. I balance being helpful while being realistic about your energy, motivation, and bandwidth for change. I will also balance the focus of our sessions on your past, present, and future.
