What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
When I was a child, I struggled to understand and process various life events including parental death, divorce, and re-marriage. Going to therapy provided me with a safe outlet to express myself. My therapist inspired me to become a therapist myself. I enjoyed the way she made me feel, so I knew I wanted to become that safe person for others.

Work HistoryPrior to this transition to private practice, I worked in community mental health. I spent the last 3.5 years working as a school-based therapist. It was an extremely rewarding position that included not only direct clinical work, but also advocacy. Services typically took place at the school, but I went above and beyond to schedule frequent home visits with families to build a rapport and truly understand their needs. I learned that supporting and empowering the family unit is foundational to a child's well-being. I also realized how many tough circumstances students come from. My long-term goal is to develop a private practice in which I provide counseling services in both the office and school settings. Robust school-based mental health services is greatly needed.
