Get To Know Me
Are there any recurring themes or issues you’ve noticed as you treat people in your area of specialization, and how has this insight guided your approach?
I notice in my work with clients that they commonly speak about their relationships with their mothers. Many of them feel they have a difficult time speaking openly about themselves in fear that their mothers will misunderstand or dismiss them. I remind my clients that it is not their fault if their mothers do not know how to respond. The idea of taking care of your mental health is unfamiliar to many families and it takes time for people to understand the process. We work on ways you can empower yourself and also set boundaries with your mother or other family members.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
You don't need to be a "perfect client" to start therapy. I work with a number of clients who feel pressure to have their lives together. You can miss some sessions. You can question if therapy is working for you. You can disagree with me in a session. You can struggle with paying for a session. I'm not interested in making you flawless. You are allowed to ask for help when you need it the most. Let's get you the care you deserve.

Work HistoryMost of my adolescent and young adult clients feel that anxiety has consumed their whole lives. They also identify as perfectionistic, depressed, and lonely. They are very creative, an overachiever or an over-procrastinator, and an emotional sponge. They may have a difficult time focusing in school and prioritize their relationships. Since they feel so deeply, they tend to feel ashamed of their emotions and work towards being someone different.
I have experience working with Black adolescent girls and other girls/women of color who live with anxiety and perfectionism. I practice with a person-centered, creative and culturally-inclusive approach to support my clients. Through art-making, mindfulness and tarot cards, I will help you to to live with less anxiety and create an authentic life.
