Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Working with me means having a space where you feel heard, supported, and respected. I believe that every person is the expert of their own life, and my role is to help you uncover your strengths, gain clarity, and navigate challenges with confidence. My approach is person-centered, meaning our work together is tailored to your unique experiences and goals.
I take a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy, drawing from different techniques based on what works best for you. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship issues, or major life transitions, I focus on practical tools and meaningful insight to help you move forward.
I also understand that therapy can feel overwhelming at times, especially if you're unsure where to start. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Progress looks different for everyone, and I will meet you where you are while helping you work toward lasting change.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences have given me a deep sense of empathy and understanding for the challenges people face in life. I know what it’s like to navigate difficult transitions, face uncertainty, and work through personal growth. These experiences have reinforced my belief that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process—each person’s journey is unique, and therapy should be tailored to their individual needs.
Because of this, I approach therapy with a sense of humility and respect. I don’t believe in simply giving advice or assuming I have all the answers. Instead, I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to explore your experiences, identify strengths, and develop tools that genuinely work for you.
My own journey has also helped me appreciate the importance of self-compassion, patience, and resilience. I bring this perspective into my work by creating a space where clients feel supported in their struggles while also being encouraged to grow. No matter what you’re facing, I believe change is possible, and I am here to help you take meaningful steps toward healing and fulfillment.
What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?
One of the biggest barriers to seeking care today is accessibility—whether it's financial concerns, insurance limitations, or difficulty finding a provider with availability. Many people want support but struggle to afford therapy, especially if they don’t have insurance or their plan has limited mental health coverage. Others may feel discouraged by long waitlists or difficulty finding a therapist who truly understands their needs.
Another major barrier is stigma. Despite growing awareness, many people still feel hesitant to seek therapy due to fears of judgment, cultural expectations, or the belief that they should handle things on their own. There’s also a misconception that therapy is only for those in crisis, when in reality, it can be beneficial for anyone looking to improve their mental health, relationships, or personal growth.
Lastly, the digital age presents both opportunities and challenges. While telehealth has made therapy more convenient, some people worry about privacy, struggle with technology, or feel uncertain about the effectiveness of virtual sessions. My goal is to make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible by providing both in-person and flexible telehealth options and creating a space where clients feel safe and supported in their journey.

Education
Hardin-Simmons, Master of Arts, Family Psychology, 2012 — I earned a Master of Arts in Family Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University, where I gained specialized training in working with individuals, couples, and families. My education emphasized evidence-based counseling approaches to help clients navigate relational challenges, improve communication, and foster emotional well-being. Through hands-on training and case consultation, I developed a strong ability to assess and address diverse family dynamics, guiding clients toward healthier relationships and personal growth. This advanced training, combined with my clinical experience, allows me to provide compassionate and effective therapy tailored to each client's unique needs.
McMurry Univeristy, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 2010 — I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from McMurry University. My education provided a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, emotional well-being, and the social factors that influence mental health. Studying both psychology and sociology has deepened my ability to help clients navigate personal and relational challenges with a well-rounded perspective. This background, combined with my clinical training and experience, allows me to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Work HistoryWith nearly two decades in the mental health field, my experience has shaped the way I support clients today. I have worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, and managed care organizations. Each of these experiences has strengthened my ability to help individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship issues, and life transitions.
Working in crisis response and psychiatric care allowed me to develop a deep understanding of how mental health struggles impact daily life. I have helped individuals in acute distress, guiding them toward stability and long-term well-being. My time in managed care also gave me insight into the complexities of the healthcare system, helping me advocate for clients and connect them with the support they need.
Through these experiences, I have refined my skills in supporting clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next steps. Whether someone is struggling with self-esteem, relationship conflicts, or major life changes, I offer a person-centered, compassionate approach to help them regain clarity and confidence.
In-person sessions are available in Abilene, TX. I also offer virtual/telehealth sessions across Texas and Colorado.
