In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

I enjoy humor and deep conversations which are reflected in my sessions. I feel that it is important to connect with my clients through interests and personality, therefore my interests also include gaming, animals, and spending time with my kids/husband.

What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?

I feel that teaching my clients about their concerns as well as making connections to how their experiences contribute to their self-identity has been impactful. I highly value the client's ability to make their own choices that they feel are right for them and I do not foster perfection or societal expectations, but encourage interpersonal growth through knowledge.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

My personal experiences with marriage, parenting, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, and numerous adverse events have provided me with a deep level of empathy and ability to connect to clients who share similar experiences.

My clinical mental health internship was completed at the Ohio State University Nisonger Center where I worked with young adults diagnosed with ASD and other co-occuring disorders.

Work History

I completed my clinical mental health internship at the Ohio State University Nisonger Center which specializes in researching and aiding those diagnosed with developmental disabilities. I provided counseling services to autistic young adults, facilitated psychoeducation groups, as well as provided support to psychologists and social workers for clinically diagnosing ASD. I now run my own online private practice, Illusory Counseling, which focuses on quality care though small caseloads, flexible scheduling, and easy communication.
