Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I have had an innate drive toward the helping profession from a very young age. Early in my career, I worked as a teacher, where many adolescents sought me out for guidance and support regarding personal and life challenges. Through these interactions, I discovered how deeply I enjoyed one-on-one engagement and counseling. However, I soon realized that while I had the desire to help, I lacked the clinical tools and training necessary to effectively support young people as they navigated complex emotional and psychological challenges. This realization motivated me to further my education and pursue specialized training in mental health counseling. The education and training I received have equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation to do the work I am passionate about—providing effective, competent, and professional care to individuals in need.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences as an individual, professional, mother, and wife shape the way I understand and support others. They allow me to view clients through a compassionate, trauma-informed lens focusing not only on symptoms, but on what has happened in their lives. These experiences has helped me strengthens my empathy, deepens my compassion, and guides me to listen attentively.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
My approach to therapy is collaborative, with the client and I working together to identify current concerns, explore what has or has not been helpful in the past, and define what progress and healing look like from the client’s perspective. While I regularly use clinical measures and ongoing assessment to monitor progress, the client remains the primary judge of whether therapy is meaningful and effective for them.

Work HistoryMy trauma-informed clinical work began through direct engagement with individuals who had experienced complex traumatic events, shaping my understanding of trauma’s impact across the lifespan. I further developed this foundation through volunteer work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including supporting individuals in a women’s shelter as they sought safety, stabilization, and resources. I later provided family-focused interventions, offering psychoeducation and parent training to strengthen parent–child relationships and promote healthy attachment. I also worked in a university counseling settings providing mental health therapy to students with concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and academic stress. I later worked in private practice in Michigan for two years, providing individual and couples counseling. I utilize evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT, IFS, EFT and Gottman Methods, to treat trauma and support individual and couples experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and relational distress. These experiences have shaped my clinical identity and deepened my passion for helping individuals and couples heal, grow, and move toward meaningful change.
