Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I find my style to collaborative, direct, and deeply empathetic. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person, couple, and family that walks through my door brings a unique story, and my job is to meet you exactly where you are while helping you get to where you want to be.
I tend to be warm but honest. If something important needs to be said, I'll say it, with care, but without dancing around it. Clients often tell me that sessions feel like a real conversation rather than a clinical transaction, and that's intentional. I want you to feel seen and understood, not processed. My work is grounded in evidence-based modalities, EMDR for trauma, DBT for emotional regulation and distress tolerance, and the Gottman Method for couples work. I bring these tools to the relationship rather than leading with them. The therapeutic relationship itself is always the foundation.
For couples especially, I hold space for both partners equally. My role is not to take sides but to help each person feel heard while moving the relationship toward something healthier and more connected. I also believe that real change happens between sessions, not just in them. I'm present, engaged, and genuinely invested in the people I work with and I think that comes through from the very first session.
What does a first session with you look like?
The first session is really about getting to know you, your story, what brought you in, and what you're hoping to get out of the work. I don't come in with a rigid agenda; I want the conversation to feel as natural and comfortable as possible from the very start. Building rapport is everything to me, I believe the strength of the relationship between therapist and client is the foundation that everything else gets built on. I'll ask questions about your history, your relationships, and what's been working and what hasn't, while leaving plenty of room for you to take things where they need to go. By the end of the session my goal is for you to leave feeling genuinely heard, understood, and clear that this is a space where you can be honest without judgment. For couples, I give both partners equal space to share their perspective and I spend a lot of time exploring the dynamic between you, how you communicate, how you connect, and where things have broken down. This first session is as much about you deciding if I'm the right fit as it is about me getting to know you.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach is collaborative at its core. I bring the clinical expertise, and you bring the knowledge of your own life, and together we figure out the path forward. My style tends to be open, reflective, honest, and transparent, if something important comes up, I'll name it, and I'll always tell you where I think we are in the work and why. I take the lead clinically while making sure you feel like an equal partner in the process, because the best outcomes happen when both people are genuinely invested. Ultimately, I want every client to leave not just feeling better but understanding themselves more deeply and that only happens in a space built on trust, honesty, and real human connection.
