If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help. In the past, stigma related to seeking counseling was a barrier although that is improving. Therapy is an opportunity to engage in the process of changing how we think about ourselves in relationship with not just the world and others around us, but primarily ourselves.

If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?

I find myself recommending Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsey Gibson most often. This is a great book for clients that have had disaffirming relationships with their parents, struggle with perfectionism, and find it difficult to feel connected to others.

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

As a second career professional coming from the financial private sector, I have an understanding of professional anxiety and stress, challenges related to self esteem and identity in workplace challenges. I work with professionals who find difficulty in feeling connected to others and recurring negative coping strategies.
