Work HistoryI founded Lighthouse Correctional Counseling and Mental Health Services in 2012 after realizing how many people get written off once they've been in the system. I earned my BS in Social Work from Tuskegee University and my MA in Professional Counseling from Argosy University, and I'm licensed in Nevada, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Minnesota, Maine, and Vermont. My focus has always been on people others have given up on—offenders, their families, and anyone dealing with the fallout of incarceration. I work with men navigating anger, addiction, domestic violence charges, and the weight of past trauma. A lot of my clients are dealing with personality disorders, mood disorders, or substance use that got them in trouble in the first place. I also work with couples and families trying to rebuild after someone comes home, which is harder than people think. Reentry means figuring out who you are now and how to build a life that works. I use CBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused approaches because change happens when people see a reason to do things differently and have the tools to follow through. I work with veterans, people from all racial backgrounds, and anyone who's tired of being stuck in the same patterns.
