What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is supportive, nonjudgmental, and integrative. Many of my clients are new to therapy or are returning to therapy after a long break, so I try to make the intake process as easy as possible. I like to come alongside my clients instead of directing them. This way, I’m able to get a deeper understanding of their unique stories, and I can often help them see a different view on their situations, narratives, and identified problems. Together, we learn new ways to think, feel, and react to these problems and often experience more peace and satisfaction in the end.

If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

I believe that therapy affords us the opportunity to gain new perspectives, to relate differently to our problems, and to discover more in our stories.

Work History

My path to becoming a therapist was not exactly linear; I went to college with the goal of helping make change on the community level. I studied urban and public affairs in undergraduate school, subsequently studied public administration in graduate school, and started working in government and nonprofit agencies. I was fortunate enough to work alongside social workers and saw firsthand the impact that they had on the lives of the people my organization was serving; I knew that I too wanted to do this kind of work. I decided to return to school to pursue my Master of Social Work. I have since had many amazing opportunities as a social worker and have worked in schools, residential treatment centers, foster care, and adoption. The experiences, skills, and lessons learned from all of these opportunities helped make me the therapist I am today.
