Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Dr. Jackson is empathetic and responsive to his clients and their needs while at the same time guiding the client to the client’s core emotional issues or blockages, the deeper inner emotional conflicts that often get avoided in everyday life. The mind naturally grasps to control the pain of those sometimes unbearable feelings, resulting in unhealthy ways of managing old negative feelings that often lead to depression, anxiety, addiction, and avoidance. Doing this inner work will allow for letting go of old negative feelings and a more lasting transformation free from inner emotional conflict.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
All psychotherapy outcome research has found one irrefutable conclusion: The relationship established between the client and the psychologist is crucial to any changes the client makes. Why is this? Engagement in a therapeutic relationship by the psychologist with attitudes of empathy and unconditional positive regard toward the client provides a safe space in which the client can explore deeply personal and sometimes highly uncomfortable feelings. This safe space the therapist creates is at the heart of all positive psychological change and growth.
