Work HistoryI have held many different jobs in the field, my very first one being an on-call mental health technician at a behavioral hospital in Miami. That was a great 'baptism' into the world of mental health, and I really enjoyed it, even though I did not work there that much. Most of my work experience was with a single agency that specialized in foster care and also preventing children from being removed by their parents. I was at that job for eleven years and it was very significant for me. I learned a lot about every aspect of the field, such as the importance of early attachment to a caregiver, the way that we carry childhood wounds into the present and future, working with couples, and so on. Sometimes we talked about deeper issues and topics and other times more brief solution-focused interventions depending on the situation. For the last several years I have been in private practice and I absolutely love that. I have been exposed to many different clients and have used different approaches depending on what's going on.
