Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I had struggled with depression and anxiety for some years when I was in college. It felt like I was in a dark place and I couldn't see anything or feel anything. There was no moving forward or retreating to a happy place. I felt stuck, invisible, and lost. Somehow one day, I decided to step into the counseling center at my college, I had my very first counseling experience. I had a place to go, someone to talk to, a space to cry. And that was my first step of moving forward, after a long long time. Many years later, I want to be that "someone", that "space" for the people who feel stuck like I was, so that they can feel seen and heard.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I would like to be open-minded in our sessions, and I would ask questions because I genuinely want to understand my clients deeper. Therefore, I would like to invite my clients to be open-minded as well, so that they can learn and understand themselves deeper.
What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?
I have always learned something new from my clients in each session!
