Work HistoryI started my career in the substance use and juvenile detention spaces. Both of these early experiences highlighted the impacts of societal and structural institutions on the mental health of individuals throughout the life cycle. The next phase of my career helped me understand the depth of the mental health crisis. Working at a mental crisis hotline, I chatted with about 200 people a month. I helped them find local resources, de-escalated emergency situations, comforted distressed loved ones, and more. It was an invaluable time in my career. I then transitioned to working with abused children and their families. For 3 years, I learned about the impacts of family systems and the interconnectedness of our psyches. I then transitioned into the psychedelic-assisted therapy space, where I deepened my understanding of spirit and its connection to the mind. Throughout each phase my career, I continued to witness the way oppressive systems influenced people's access to equitable care.
