Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I believe the most important thing to know about working with me is that I will prioritize your safety and comfort in session. I view the therapeutic relationship as one of the most important aspects of therapy and my number one goal is to make sure that you feel safe, heard, and supported in the session. I am not a therapist who tells clients what to do. Rather, I am a guide and I work with you towards the goals that you want to work on. I aspire to provide a space that is warm, safe and welcoming to all clients.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
Rapport, in my opinion, is the most important aspect of successful therapy. I know this from my personal experience in my own therapy as well as professionally in my work. For trauma work especially, I am privileged to hear stories that often have not been told to anyone and I take that trust in me very seriously. If a client cannot feel safe and trusting in session with me, understandably they are not going to share about their trauma. Therefore, I strive to be a trustworthy and safe person. My personal values of being authentic, warm and trustworthy serve me well in this realm. I often hear feedback from clients that they trust me or feel comfortable and safe with me. I have worked with very significant trauma/abuse situations and I am always humbled at the amount of clients who open their heart to trust me with their traumas.
What does a first session with you look like?
First and foremost, I want to get to know you and the goals you have for therapy. I want to make sure your voice is heard and that you leave the session feeling seen, respected and valued as a person. I may ask you some unfished intake questions but I generally like to spend the first session getting to know what is important to you. I respect timing and understand that it may take a while to discuss some topics, and that's okay!

Work HistoryMy experience and background in providing treatment has been in community mental health and substance use. I have always been passionate about trauma work and my experience has only reinforced this passion. While I’ve worked with a wide variety of symptoms, presenting issues, and individuals, the one common theme that I've noticed is most, if not all, of these individuals have trauma. I’m also a practical person. I believe that, if trauma is at the root of your anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, sleep issues, low self-esteem, etc, then working to heal that past trauma makes the most sense in getting symptom relief.
