Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
As a young professional in the mental health field, I believe that every human, from all walks of life, deserves to feel heard and seen. I also believe that the world can feel lonely at times, we may have friends, family, loved ones but not all of us may have the space to let someone into our inner world; that's why I make it possible for all my clients to feel welcomed and feel that therapy can be a safe nonjudgmental place for all to just unwind and release some of the issues and feelings we have towards life's pleasant and not so pleasant moments. Life is unpredictable and sometimes we need help navigating. I stand for all voices to be heard and compassionate quality mental health care for all my clients.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to any client is to first recognize them as a multifaceted individual who holds potential, acknowledging that each individual has unique experiences that shaped them into the person they are now. I use a person-centered, cognitive behavioral framework as my initial approach and then begin integrating other modalities and interventions as sessions continue, taking on an eclectic approach. Throughout the therapeutic process, I continuously provide compassion and empathy while working in collaboration with the client and apply appropriate interventions based on a personalized and tailored plan.
What does a first session with you look like?
For first sessions, I use that as an introductory session to get to know my client. The first session is mostly free conversation-based, not getting too much into detail about my clients reasons for coming to therapy, instead we use the first session to talk about the client's upbringing, education, discussing friends and support systems, favorite foods and hobbies, discussing their career and goals. It's my opportunity to get that professional rapport started before we discuss heavier topics.
