Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
The therapy I provide focuses on changing patterns in my clients' lives, especially those around insomnia, anxiety/depression, chronic pain, and OCD. We'll identify the thoughts and behaviors that keep your problems going and work together to change them. You'll not only work with me in sessions, but also complete activities in between our appointments to improve your life more rapidly. Clients who enjoy working with me tend to want therapy that focuses on taking action, and find that they benefit from their out-of-session therapy "homework." I use a workbook called Mind Over Mood with my clients, so that they can keep their learning and progress for reference during therapy with me, and after they finish.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Clients can expect to learn and take away practical skills that they can use during the week to improve their symptoms. This may be a skill that we've talked about in session, but may also include handouts that I share electronically with reminders about the skill or ways to track how the skill was used and how it helped! I think that seeing progress in concrete ways is important, and want to support my clients in learning to use their skills to eventually navigate their concerns without needing my input on how to cope with them.
