How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?
I got trained in EMDR in 2022. Since then, I have used EMDR to help several clients overcome their trauma. It was surprising to see it working so effectively in as little as one session. Clients reported feeling like the trauma was no longer or minimally distressing, and that they felt more distant from the trauma. This modality can heal deep-rooted negative beliefs and experiences.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I got my undergrad degree in public health, because I knew I wanted to help people and promote health. I worked at my university's relationship violence prevention office and the local rape crisis center. Interacting with the therapists there inspired me to want to become one. I believe that by helping people become their best selves, it will have a ripple effect and spread positive change.
