In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?

My life philosophy and treatment philosophy are largely the same: care about people. I know that if I am working with this value in mind, the people I am working with are going to receive the care and attention they need from me on their path to healing. It means to meet people where they are and hear what it is they need to support them in their growth.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

Being a non-binary, queer person, my lived experiences with gender expression, sexuality exploration, identity acceptance, and self-love mirror that of many who have struggled on this path in the LGBTQIA+ community. I know what it is to want to just live and exist as myself and have people and/or the world tell me to move in a different way or disappear altogether. It's for these and many other reasons I strive to provide a space free of judgement, shame, and condemnation but rather one that is inclusive, loving, and supportive.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I describe my overall style to therapy a bit eclectic with a foundation in Person-Centered theory. I believe each person I work with is the expert on themself, meet them where they are with the things they are dealing with, and then pull interventions and tools from other approaches to bolster and support the treatment process in a way that will mirror how that individual's brain processes things.

Work History

I have worked extensively with people experiencing depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts as a focused part of a previous job. However, that experience, my lived experience, my typical client experience, and my education have all been pieces that have and continue to inform my work with people in the LGBTQIA+ community dealing with the multitude of issues faced by this community of people. My background working in resource connection for people keeps it in mind that not all issues are internal--the world, society, and our culture place immense pressures on us without providing us with direct solutions and this matters a lot.
