Under Clinical Supervision
Mrs. Ruth Barajas Assi, Licensed Master Social Worker, 112324 is practicing under the supervision of Kelsey Blahnik (Texas, LCSW, 103757) at The and Way Therapy.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
I believe that you have what it takes to heal. You might be feeling overwhelmed by inner conflict to the point where clarity feels out of reach. I understand how difficult it can be to seek help if you struggle with anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck. Sessions with me focus on achieving your goals to grow your tolerance of stress, reduce compulsive behaviors that don’t align with your values, and foster resilience. By gaining coping skills and self-compassion, you can transform inner conflict into strength. I would love to provide you with an accepting presence as you journey toward confidence and clarity.

Work History
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work. Currently under supervision to provide clinical therapy, I bring nearly 10 years of experience in Macro Social Work to the table. As a clinician, I am focusing on providing therapy to better understand the mental health needs of BIPOC minority populations. As a Latina and native Spanish speaker, I'm deeply committed to advancing equity and financial stability through active civic engagement. Beyond my professional pursuits, I find joy in participating in diverse leadership forums and volunteering. Having earned both my master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington, I'm deeply rooted in the community.
