What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I believe most therapists seek out a helping profession as a result of challenging life experiences. I chose to pursue this career because I believe the most important thing in life is learning the stories of others and using my experience to connect emotionally. I hope to provide an outlet for those who need support as I have received throughout my life.

Education
University of South Florida, Master of Social Work, Social Work, 2020 — The Master's program for Social Work prepares a clinician for applying interventions in a variety of settings(hospitals, schools, hospice, private practice, etc). Social workers use a holistic lens in determining the needs for individuals and believe that several factors need to be considered when providing treatment. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) looks to explore family dynamics, cultural influences, and other environmental factors that may help the client in learning where presenting problems arise. An LCSW is proficient in delivering individual treatment, family therapy, and also couples counseling. Other Clinical Therapists (LMHC's, LMFT) may have more focus towards treating specific symptoms and are recommended for individuals seeking symptomatic relief. It's important to consider that while the schooling of a therapist may vary, the area of proficiency (trauma, substance use, depression treatment, etc) is of primary importance.
University of South Florida, Bachelor of Science, Psychology, 2015
Work HistoryMy first introduction into the counseling field was working at a long-term residential substance abuse facility in Gainesville, Florida. The environment allowed me to learn many different personalities and I was able to see how addiction affected all types of individuals. I really enjoyed working in this program because I was able to form long-term relationships and watch people grow through challenges and find their most authentic self in such a short amount of time. After choosing to pursue a higher education, I moved to Tampa and began working on a Master's degree in Social work. While in this program, I worked part-time in a crisis intervention center where I completed assessments for individuals reporting suicidal thoughts. In this organization, I was able to be apart of a team that addressed the most acute demographic in our area. The position allowed me to meet people, some of whom were at their lowest part of their lives. It taught me perspective and the importance of just creating space for someone to be heard. I believe there is so much power in connecting with someone as an individual and giving them space to be heard. Upon graduating with my Masters in Social Work, I took another position in a long-term residential facility treating individuals with substance use, PTSD, and other mood related disorders. This program is strongly rooted in community and am grateful for being apart it for the time I was there. Once I became licensed in 2023, I chose to explore private practice as a means to be more flexible with my schedule and building around my life path. I hope to continue growing with every client I work with and look forward to expanding my expertise to the surrounding community.
