What is your style/approach to therapy?
With whatever challenges you are facing in life, help is available, and things really can get better. In my 12+ years as a licensed psychologist, I have gained experience with a wide range of clients with struggles including mood or anxiety difficulties, recovery from major stress and trauma, phase of life or adjustment challenges, and various other concerns. Although therapy is not intended as a quick fix, as making changes with a strong foundation can take some time, taking the leap into therapy can have positive impacts both in the short- and long-term.
In therapy, I will work to help you take meaningful steps toward the future you want for yourself, and to assist you in building the skills and insights that will allow you to grow and thrive in your life. I believe the most effective therapy is tailored to meet your individual needs, and delivered in an atmosphere where you feel heard and respected.
I find it very rewarding to spend my life helping people; to be able to work with clients to overcome challenges, help them harness and build on their strengths, or walk with them in recovering from stress and trauma. I have seen first hand the power that collaboration, and goal-focused and thoughtful therapeutic interventions can have on someone's life and wellness. I am inspired every day by the changes my clients are able to make through their engagement in therapy.
What does a first session with you look like?
Our initial sessions will be spent getting to know one another and gathering information about how therapy can best work for you. Therapy would typically start with an assessment of concerns, followed by a discussion about your goals and preferences for our work together. Typically clients would experience gradual improvement of symptoms in the initial weeks, and ongoing skill building to create long-term improvement. I look forward to working with you on your journey to achieve your goals, and to live a value-driven life. Please reach out to me for a free consultation.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Every client has different needs. I work to integrate a variety of possible treatment strategies into my work with clients, depending on their situation and preferences. My primary orientation is cognitive behavioral, and I commonly integrate mindfulness skills and other methods into the work I do.
