Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I am committed to providing a collaborative, client-centered approach that is tailored to meet my client’s unique needs. I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment, which will enable you to share your story at you own pace and in your own way, ensuring that you feel heard and validated.
This approach works for me because:
-I come from a Caribbean background and have seen firsthand the impact of generational trauma.
-I have a child with autism, which fuels my passion for advocating and providing mental health support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities—a group often overlooked in the mental health world; and,
-My strong background in crisis counseling and intervention taught me how resilient people truly are, even in their hardest moments.
But outside of my professional role, I’m a regular person too! In my free time, you’ll find me crocheting, reading, cooking, spending time with family, or just playing with my cats Henry and Chuck!
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use a combination of CBT, CPT, Person-centered, SFBT, and motivational interviewing therapies, in my practice. We'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. We'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences.
What does a first session with you look like?
During our first few sessions, I will listen attentively to fully understand your experiences, identify areas of growth, and work with you to establish meaningful, personalized goals for healing and empowerment.
