What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I can remember a time in my life when I felt the whole world crashing down on me and there was no space. It took a lot of strength to schedule an appointment with the local counseling office in my city. When I entered that office, I felt a sense of peace I thought didn't exist. The office was so calming and quiet. My counselor sat there and let me release everything I thought I would never say out loud. She made me feel empowered to take on the world and my problems. I knew after finishing my sessions that I wanted to extend that same hand to pull someone else who's struggling up into the light.

Education
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Master of Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, 2023 — My tenure as president of the Counseling Student Association (CSA) was marked by a passionate commitment to supporting future counselors and making a positive impact on the community. With strong leadership skills and dedication to the field of counseling, I spearheaded initiatives that empowered aspiring counselors to achieve their goals while fostering a culture of service and advocacy within the association.
In addition to fostering a sense of belonging within the association, I was deeply committed to helping my fellow students succeed academically and professionally. I worked to organize educational seminars, guest speaker events, and professional development workshops that provided valuable insights into various counseling specialties, licensure requirements, and career pathways.
