Get To Know Me
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is honestly pretty laid back and conversational. You can expect a very interactive experience where I talk with you, point out details I may notice, and take more of a conversational role. As we talk about recent events, stressors, or your goals I'll incorporate building/using coping skills as they are relevant, making time for us to practice and explore new strategies as they make sense in the context of your life.
What does a first session with you look like?
Our very first encounter is a (free) 15-minute consultation where we just touch base on what's happening and make sure we'd be a good fit. If we decide to move forward, the first full session is quite structured and formal, primarily in the name of getting all of the information that insurance companies would like me to have on hand. It's focused around getting to know you from a bird's eye view, so you can expect a lot of questions. After that intake is done we work together to create a treatment plan where we identify what is most important to you and what you'd like to get out of this experience. Moving forward sessions become a lot more informal and less structured, creating room for us to balance working on those goals you identified alongside dealing with life as it happens.
What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?
Success looks different for everyone, but a good marker is when someone starts coming in to session telling me about a stressful or anxiety inducing thing that happened, but they had the tools and skills to navigate it on their own. When people start developing the ability to address those things independently, that is a fabulous sign. When people start having the confidence that they can handle whatever happens next in life, that's when we start looking at discharge. BUT. The timeline on which this happens is so subjective, and there is no single right answer. Similarly, sometimes a new thing unexpectedly happens that is too big to handle alone and that's okay too. We have a lot of flexibility to tailor the therapeutic experience to your individual needs, goals, and timeline.

Work HistoryOver time I've had the pleasure of working with folks from every walk of life, and firmly believe that therapy has something to offer everyone. While I have experience in a variety of settings from hospitals to housing programs, the bulk of my experience has been clinical, providing individual therapy to adults navigating all sorts of concerns. I started my private practice in 2021, and feel blessed to have the opportunity to focus my efforts on the areas where I can do the most good, such as anxiety disorders, stress management, chronic illness, and panic disorders.
