What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
The therapeutic relationship is everything when it comes to committing to the therapeutic process. That's why it is essential for there to be a good fit in terms of personalities meshing, values aligning, and a general sense of mutual respect. On top of that, though, I feel that demonstrating genuine care and connection is the most important factor to building a meaningful therapeutic alliance. When the therapeutic relationship is really strong and there is trust then the real work can begin.
