In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My life experiences and my experiences with therapy as a teen have both greatly influenced my work with clients. I started going to therapy as a teenager after my father passed away. I realized during that time that opening up and sharing my feelings was very difficult. When I decided to become a therapist, I wanted to make sure that I made each session as comfortable as possible so that my clients felt willing to open up. Even if it was a super slow process.
In addition to my personal experience as a client, I've also had a lot of life experience that has shaped the type of clients I work with. I've experienced a lot of loss of family, I've had the responsibility of being a caregiver for a sick parent, and I've experienced burnout as a result of being a caregiver and constant stress.

Work HistoryEvery job I've had has revolved around the helping profession in one way or another. My experience ranges from volunteering with the Texas Youth Hotline and working with tweens and teens in an after school setting to working at multiple State Agencies providing services to Texas' most vulnerable citizens. I have also provided counseling services to some of Austin's homeless neighbors to working in a group counseling practice in Westlake. I then decided that I could continue supporting my clients while also giving me the freedom of being my own boss.
