Get To Know Me
If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
I quite literally like to tell my clients during our intake session: "Welcome to the Mirror Dimension." Dr. Strange's parallel dimension, in which advanced sorcerers can practice their spells without impacting the real world and keep lookout for threats without being noticed, aligns with my view of the therapeutic space in various aspects. 1) Confidentiality keeps this place safe from the outside world. What happens and is said here, stays here. 2) Skills (e.g., boundary setting, communication, emotional regulation) need time and practice. Weekly, I make space for you to learn and practice so that you feel more confident to execute in the real world. 3) My approach includes person-centered, relational, and psychodynamic therapy. As another being in the space with you, we get an idea of things in the outside world that we need to keep a lookout for based on what comes on in our relationship because, more often than not, what happens in here is usually a reflection of what happens out there.
